Preparing for the Final Research Project

  1. Research Question: How does the SARS-CoV-2 D614G spike protein mutation impact the virus's transmissibility and prevalence in the world?
  2. Publicly available data needed to gather information:We have cited several sources that includes maps of increased prevalence of the mutant strains around the world, we also found an article that addresses the structural integrity of the mutant strain. As such, we will be analyzing for a possible connection between the mutant strain and its structure and a corresponding pattern in appearance rates around the globe.
  3. Tools used to answer question with data: We will possibly be using iCn3D structure viewer to create a model of the mutant strain and compare it to the wild type strain. We will also be using massed to find patterns of transmissibility
