Ava's Response

  1. What aspect of this assignment came most easily to you?
    • Uploading everything back to box.
  2. What aspect of this assignment was the most challenging for you?
    • The most challenging part of the assignment was trying to perform a query on the microsoft access database. After attempting to three times, I ended up just copying and pasting over.
  3. What (yet) do you not understand?
    • I guess I am still confused about all the methodology and what exactly happens in the GRN software with all of the equations.

Desiree's Response

  1. What aspect of this assignment came most easily to you?
    • The aspect of this assignment that came most easily to me, was the creation of the production_rate and degradation_rate sheets on my input workbook. The copy and pasting from the Microsoft Access database sheet onto my own workbook was very easy to do.
  2. What aspect of this assignment was the most challenging for you?
    • The aspect of this assignment that was most challenging for me was initially the creation of the various queries to collect the ANOVA data from the Microsoft Access database. I struggled a bit when working on this portion of the assignment, because the website procedure stated that we should modify and use the query procedure found underneath the section on production_rates. Since I had not used the query for the production rate step, it was a bit confusing to understand and try to modify the methods to be able to obtain the information needed. In addition, I had trouble with this aspect of the assignment because I didn't know that the ANOVA data we were copying was from the Microsoft Access database sheet provided; I thought we had to use our original data file from the beginning of the semester.
  3. What (yet) do you not understand?
    • I am still a bit confused as to how the manipulation of this data in the GRNmap system will accurately determine the network gene values for w, b, and P, especially if we are using guesses in all of our input workbook data.

Alison King's Response

  1. What aspect of this assignment came most easily to you?
    • I thought that creating the new datasets from the Microsoft database was easy once I got the hang of the method.
  2. What aspect of this assignment was the most challenging for you?
    • So far, none of this has been challenging. However, I assume that analyzing the modeling results will be the hardest part.
  3. What (yet) do you not understand?
    • I don't quite yet understand what our models are going to show us and how the information can be useful.

Brianna Samuels' Reflection

  1. The easiest part of the assignment was creating the workbook and entering the data necessary
  2. Performing the query was definitely the most difficult part of the assignment
  3. One thing I don't understand is how to perform the query. I am still confused on that. I also don't understand exactly how to fully analyze models as well.

Angela's Response

  1. What aspect of this assignment came most easily to you?
    • The easiest part of this assignment was navigating the Microsoft Access Database. All the data was organized and easy to find.
  2. What aspect of this assignment was the most challenging for you?
    • The hardest part of this assignment was extracting the needed data needed for the Excel workbook. I unfortunately could not get the 'exclamation point icon' to work, so I wasn't able to perform the query when extracting data.
  3. What (yet) do you not understand?
    • I don't understand why we are using certain guesses and how guesses are used in the analyzation of this data.

Edward's response

  1. I found that copying the data from YEASTRACT and creating the workbook easy.
  2. Creating the query was the most difficult part, but once I got down the method, it became easy.
  3. I do not understand how all of the different aspects of the data will work together in the model. Im interested to see how this will turn out

Leanne's Response

  1. Creating the Excel sheet was the easiest aspect of this assignment; specifically the production and degradation rates sheet.
  2. Troubleshooting GRNmap was the most difficult aspect of this assignment.
  3. I am still unsure of how to interpret the results. I still don't quite understand the differential equation and variables being used, as well as what the "counter" and "LSE" was in the GRNmap output figures.

Fatimah's Response

  1. What aspect of this assignment came most easily to you? copying of data into an excel worksheet was the easiest aspect of this assignment.
  2. What aspect of this assignment was the most challenging for you? the most challenging was analyzing the results.
  3. What (yet) do you not understand? I dont understand what each of the resulting figure exactly means.

Sahil Patel's Reflection

  1. The aspect of this assignment that came easiest to me was creating the input Excel Workbook.
  2. The most challenging part of this assignment was trying to interpret some of the data in the sheets of the sample workbook.
  3. I am not quite sure yet how the MATLAB program determines how long it runs for and so when I was looking at the fluctuating LSE, I was not sure when it would reach a stopping point.

Austin Dias Reflection

  1. Creating the input workbook for MATLAB was the easiest part of the assignment.
  2. The most difficult part of the assignment was performing the query. I tried several times and was not able to successfully do it, so I copied and pasted the data by hand.
  3. I do not fully understand how the variables we are inputting into the excel workbook have been selected and what exactly we will get out of our models that we can later analyze.
