Bayesian Statistics

Overview of the Original Diagnosis System

Our group, which consisted of six of us, divided up the work by having one of us do the summary of the process we took to achieve the lab as well as many other parts. Another part was to do the image j calibrations while another person did table five which determined if the patients that we were given were positive or negative, and did table four. Another persons part was to create the graphs of the data from table five as well as calculate in table two the dilutions and total dilutions for each. How we tried to prevent error throughout our lab, was to ask the TA if we were doing everything correctly to begin with, as well as try to keep the position that the pictures were taken in the same. Another way that we tried to minimize error was to make sure that all of the concentrated DNA that was going to be placed into the PCR reaction was all placed into the reaction and none was left behind. Overall, our successful in that we discovered whether or not the two patients were positive with the gene that we tested for. Patient 76322: yielded a negative result we observed a value of -0.03 μg/mL which is close to the positive result. Patient 12480 : yielded a positive result of 0.96 μg/mL close to the negative result. The hardest challenge that we faced as a group for our lab was communication. Due to having to do the lab mostly outside of given lab time that we have, communication might have created some of the error within our results. Also another challenge with in this lab was truly just trying to understand each step as well how to fill out each table in the lab and what those values that we achieved meant. This lack of fully understanding could have affected the data.
