Dye Addition

  • Preparation of Rhodamine 6G stock solution

Dye addition to samples was done at a range of concentrations from 20 μM - 200 μM and was added to 1mL of sample. The samples need at least 24 hours in order to soak in the dye.

  • Fluorescence of the water sample which the nanoparticles/ rhodamine will be analyzed to determine the total R6G concentration adsorbed by the hydrogel complexes.

Samples were placed in eppendorf tubes and manually shaken/ stirred for approximately 2 minutes each in order to mix dye and prepare samples for absorption/ crosslinking. Samples were left overnight.

NOTES

    • From UV-Vis spectra collections, it was determined that the true concentration of the R6G that was used was: 398.7 uM
