Objectives

  • Prepare 50mL of stock solution of BSA that is roughly 5mg into 5ml of saline
  • Calculate your actual solution concentration
  • Record UV-VIS spectra between 200nm and 800nm
  • Make 8 standard solutions (1mL each) between 1µg/mL and 20µg/mL
  • Record UV-VIS spectra of the above prepared solutions
  • Make duplicate blanks (4 solutions total)

Description

  • Prepare 50mL of stock solution of BSA
5mg into 5ml of saline



  • Calculate your actual solution concentration
(5E-3grams)/(66,000g/mol)=7.58E-8mol of BSA
(7.58E-8mol of BSA)/(0.005L)=1.52E-5M



  • Make 8 standard solutions (1mL each) between 1µg/mL and 20µg/mL



  • Make duplicate blanks (4 solutions total)

  • Record UV-VIS spectra between 200nm and 800nm
