I am a senior concentrator in MCB at the College. I work in the Gilbert Lab at MIT, which is a laboratory that focuses on cap-independent translation and ribosome specialization in S. cerevisiae. I am concurrently working on a project in the Mooney lab (Harvard SEAS) that focuses on the synergistic role of interstitial fluid flow and VEGF in engineering angiogenesis in 3-D cell cultures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). I've joined the course because (surprisingly) I have varying interests in the sciences. Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are extremely fascinating to me, as are genomics and structural biology (I worked in an NMR lab at Sherman Fairchild for 2 years.)

More broadly I have a deep interest in global health and the influence of work like the HGP on human health and advances in biotechnology. Lastly, I look forward to learning some computational biology...and maybe rekindling my non-existent love affair with programming....
