Culturing Wed, Sep 22, 2010 Unpacked fruitfly's and culture vials today. Attempted to make homemade culture medium. Roughly used 7/10 potato flakes, 1/10 sugar (brown), 1/10 Sodium Acetate (mold inhibitor), and 1/10 yeast (mistake?), and 8 - 10 ml water. 8-10 ml anthocyanin-colored water each. Transfered some wingless flies to new vial. Captured some wild types in their own vial as well. Flightless seemed to eat yeast. Wild types did not. Perhaps wild are more sensitive to food sources.
