Objective

  • Take UV-Vis of porphyrin solutions
  • Re-do crosslinking of porphyrin films
  • Prepare sulfate solutions

Description

  1. UV-Vis Spectra of porphyrin solutions with the following concentrations were collected:
    1. 25μM
    2. 12.5μM
    3. 6.75μM
    4. 3.375μM
    5. 1.6875μM
  2. 10 mL 50 μM of the following sulfate solutions were prepared:
    1. Na2SO4
    2. Fe2(SO4)3
    3. Al2(SO4)3

Preparation of 50 μM Na2SO4

[math]\displaystyle{ \frac {142.07 g} {mol} \times \frac {50mmol} {L} \times \frac {10^-3 mol} {1mmol} \times \frac {1 L} {1000mL} \times 10mL = 0.071035 g }[/math]

0.071035 g Na2SO4 in 10mL H2O to prepare 50mM. Dilute to 50μM by using 10μL 50mM in 9.99mL H2O.


Preparation of 50 μM 72 wt% Fe2(SO4)3

[math]\displaystyle{ \frac {72} {100} \times \frac {399.88 g} {mol} \times \frac {50mmol} {L} \times \frac {10^-3 mol} {1mmol} \times \frac {1L} {1000mL} \times \frac 10mL = 0.144g }[/math]

0.144 g 72 wt% Fe2(SO4)3 in 10mL H2O to prepare 50mM. Dilute to 50μM by using 10μL 50mM in 9.99mL H2O.


Preparation of 50 μM Al2(SO4)3

[math]\displaystyle{ \frac {656.33 g} {mol} \times \frac {50mmol} {L} \times \frac {10^-3 mol} {1mmol} \times \frac {1L} {1000mL} \times 10mL = 0.328g }[/math]

0.328 g Al2(SO4)3 in 10mL H2O to prepare 50mM. Dilute to 50μM by using 10μL 50mM in 9.99mL H2O.
