-WRITE OUR ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY

-WRITE A LIST OF ALUMNI STUDENTS

-FILL OUT LIST OF CAMPAIGN PROJECT LEADERS

-START BUILDING EMAIL LISTS

-think about big names in our fields

-people who would be willing to share our campaign

-myth: you only want to find people with the largest following

-truth: you want to find people who "shout the loudest," will spread our message as far as possible

-Foundation money

-if you already have a foundation fund (discretionary funding)

-crowdfunding would be a great way to go back to the foundation and asking for more money

-Social Media

-encourage all members to like and share our Facebook/Twitter

-we might have a chance to do a paid advertisement through Facebook/Twitter

-it will be targeted at friends of friends

-Rachel will do targeted research, present options to us

-if any of the options don't seem right to us, we need to let them know

-let's try to get Sri out to one or two Spark meetings

-preliminary idea from Rachel

-a comic book theme

-"shorter panels to describe what synthetic biology is"

-infographic in a comic book style

-make the complex topic of synthetic biology accessible

-could possibly reach out to actual comic book artists to work on it

-next meeting: probably in 2 weeks

-once she gets approval form the rest of committee, she'll show us the site

-Rachel will work with Orlando to set up a UCLA foundation account

-make sure that our donations are tax deductible

-Rachel will start building a media list for people we can reach out to

-like newspapers, sites, bloggers, etc.

-turnaround is 2 weeks after completion of campaign

-current problem: jamboree individual registration deadline is July 31

-that's too late for the SPARK campaign!

-we either need to begin our campaign in June, or state that the Spark money will go to other expenses

-look at our budget, see if there's anything that we don't have to pay for until LATE AUGUST
