ems mutagenesis suspend ~10,000 seeds (~0.2g) in 10 ml of a 0.3% solution of ems in a falcon tube with parafilm. incubate on a rocker plate 18-22 hours. remove ems and wash seeds 12x with dh2o. vernalize seeds 2-3 days at 4ºC. sow seeds in large pots (~50-100 seeds per pot and 8 pots per flat). ems is a powerful mutagen. ALL WORK SHOULD BE DONE IN THE HOOD AND EMS AND WASHES NEED TO BE DISPOSED OF IN THE APPROPRIATE WASTE CONTAINERS CONTAINING SODIUM THIOSULFATE! WEAR GLOVES AT ALL STAGES.
