I am broadly interested in plant evolution and development. My past research involved phylogenetics, biomechanics, and pollination ecology of Catasetum and Catasetinae orchids. I am currently studying the evolutionary and statistical genetics and genomics of tomato and its wild relatives, with a focus on environmental plasticity (shade avoidance) and abiotic stress tolerance (drought, salt, and cold). I am also studying the evolution of gene families involved in light signaling through phylogenetic methods and site-directed mutagenesis.
