Entry title A Flower of A Different Color Rajiv, Tiffany and Melissa collected cuttings from the Orchid and started the protocol for Plant DNA Extraction. We finished the day with some of the leaves in cold storage and DNA Precipitating out of solution. Melissa found the protocol for the Naringenin in the paper "Metabolic Engineering of Anthocyanin Biosynthesis in Escherichia coli" by Yen, at http://aem.asm.org/cgi/content/full/71/7/3617. Sushma and Binu found out the protocols for the RNA extraction( after the first one got disapproved by Axel for its incompleteness) and got all the materials ready for the RNA extraction to be done on Tuesday. They also made the wash buffer for the DNA extraction and obtained SOC, SOB and a few other buffers from the Smelly Team. Angie and Diwash started the vector colonies and protocols for colonies already started by Axel. They also prepared the LB medium, GET buffer and all the chemicals such as SDS
