OUR TEAM Name: Ryan Wood Name: Mark Weser Name: Makarios Begay Name: Morgan Murray Name: Alexis Nelson Name: Kori Staples LAB 1 WRITE-UP Independent and Dependent Variables Independent Variable: Inflammation reducing agent (LPS) Dependent Variable: Inflammatory protein Experimental Design Groups This experiment will be composed of 5 groups Group 1: Control group, this group will be taking 10 mg dose of LPS. Group 2: Independent Variable, This group will be taking 8 mg dose of LPS. Group 3: Independent Variable, This group will be taking 5 mg dose of LPS. Group 4: Independent Variable, This group will be taking 2 mg dose of LPS. Group 5: Independent Variable, This group will be taking 0 mg dose of LPS. Age Our target age group is 60 - 75. Number of subjects per group 10 subject will be used per group. We intend for our patients to be 50% physically active and 50% physically inactive. Subject Selection Our team will be posting information for the experiment in various local doctors offices in Sun City, AZ and surrounding areas. Subjects must meet requirements: -No major or extreme cases of inflammatory diseases. I.E. arthritis, asthma, etc. -Must have minimal to moderate inflammatory symptoms. Sources of Error and Bias -Error with group segregation. -We may find various definitions when we define the term "active" when dividing the study groups. -Patient missing medication timeline.
