From open source academics to the open source academic. We have all heard about open source academics. The Internet offers a fundamentally new forum for academic discourse and dialog. From OpenWetWare, to Google Books, to YouTube, to online journals (e.g. PLOS Biology) silicon offers the opportunity to expand the reach and impact of research in the traditionally closed off world of the ivory tower. What about an open source academic? Do individuals exist willing to give up all privacy and share his or her mind and brain with others? Is it possible? I would like to try (http://kayaerbil.org/).
