Objective

Synthesize purple protein fibers.

Description

  1. Mix 1mL 15.4μM BSA, 580μL of 4.3mM Chloroauric acid, and 8.42mL distilled water in a glass test tube.
  2. Put the mixture in the oven for a half hour, and then remove it and keep at room temperature for 10 minutes. Repeat this six times.
  3. Store at room temperature. Wrap the tube in aluminum foil.

Data

  • Resulted in a light purple solution with dark purple fibers.

Notes

  • The final concentration of BSA is 1.61μM.
    • Calculation:(1mL/9.58mL)*15.4μM
  • The final concentration of Chloroauric acid is 0.26mM.
    • Calculation: (.58mL/9.58mL)*4.3mM
