Personal Interests
In my free time, I like to do crafts such as crocheting and sewing. I hope to start quilting this year!
Favorite Aspect of Biology
Ever since I learned about DNA I thought it was fascinating. I remember learning what DNA stood for and thinking I knew everything. I think growing up in a time when the human genome project had been completed semi-recently and a great deal of discoveries within molecular biology were allowing for great advancements within the field was a very unique experience and the wonder and awe surrounding those discoveries was something I wanted to be a part of.
Favorite Aspect of Mathematics
The main reason I originally pursued math was because everyone told me I was good with numbers growing up. As an elementary and middle school student, I found safety within math because it felt a lot more concrete than other subjects. While my upper-division courses have caused most of math's safety and concreteness to fall away, my love for math remains. Discovering the field of pure math has opened up a completely different type of thinking and given me various analytical skills that encourage me to continue to learn about math.
