Objective

The purpose of this experiment was to repeat the previous day's experiments and to determine the nature of both the AuNP solution and the AuNP fibers.

Procedure

Two solutions of AuNP were created.

  • Solution 1:
  • 0.516 mL of 30 μM BSA was combined with 0.350 mL of 4.17 mM HAuCl4 in a test tube.
  • Solution 2:
  • 0.516 mL of 30 μM BSA was combined with 0.700 mL of 4.17 mM HAuCl4 in a test tube.

When Solution 1 test tube began to turn purple, it was removed from the oven and 100 uL of 5.02 mM tris (pH 10.1) was added to 1 mL of the solution. The solution then underwent UV VIS analysis. 100 uL of 5.02 mM tris was added two more times, and after both times UV VIS was also used to analysis the solution.

Results

As seen during the previous day's experiment, purple fibers formed in the test tube after 1 hour.

For solution 1, data was taken as soon as the purple solution began to form:
