Objective Set up an experiment to test the uptake of the red and purple nanoparticles with the java fern Protocol Two small java ferns were placed in 40mL of stock solutions of both the purple and red AuNPs. The solutions were then checked on the next day for and tested via UV-Vis to get a quantitative amount of gold being absorbed. Results The plant did not have adequate roots for this experiment, so we ended up overwhelming the place by using the pure stock solution and the plant died.
