Elif Sakız, an undergraduate from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Yeni Yüzyıl University (Istanbul), was a summer (2014) intern in my laboratory. Her project involved the cloning and effect of Vitreoscilla hemoglobin gene in Deinococcus radiodurans, a highly radio-resistant bacterium subjected to NASA research.
