Education

I have been a paramedic and served as a paramedic instructor as well as a National Registry board examiner prior to starting college on a research oriented track (originally pre-med but I'm a convert.) I have a broad background from rescue diving to piloting to radio operations. Now I am wrapping up a BS in Biology and have started a pursuit for my MS in Biology at Sam Houston State University, hoping to advance to Ph.D. eventually.

Research interests

  1. Understanding the molecular basis of virulence and antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli and Salmonella in humans and animals.
  2. Understanding the microbial metagenome and molecular processes associated with putrefaction in order Mammalia with focus on forensic implications in Homo sapiens.
  3. Beginning interest in non-horizontal mutation of the T4 bacteriophage in relation to virulence on E. coli strains and associated proteome and protein expression changes.
