Talk:How to read a paper

Any query suggestions that have worked for people? For instance I was considering setting up a Synthetic Bio-type query and just doing it by author, but there are a number of pretty common names in there (weiss R, collins JJ, among others). So was worried i'd get too many irrelevant papers -- so was wondering if anyone has actually been running one of these things succesfully. --Jasonk 08:47, 31 May 2005 (EDT)

- I specify both author and institution to help narrow the search. For instance, "(Endy D[Author] AND Massachusetts Institute of Technology[Affiliation])" for those authors whose names are common. Specifying middle initials (if the author tends to use them in publications) also helps. --Reshma 10:32, 31 May 2005 (EDT)
