• RS 16:40, 13 April 2006 (EDT): One important issue to raise (in my opinion) is that whether faculty are hired as primary BE faculty or as dual or joint faculty with another department has a direct impact on the students. Primary BE faculty simply have more time to focus on the department (like curriculum development etc.) which tends to be to the benefit of the students. We discussed this at the previous BE visiting committee meeting but it is probably worth raising the issue again.
• RS 16:40, 13 April 2006 (EDT): A second issue to potentially raise is the lack of a student common space for the department especially given that the undergraduate major is coming online.
