Definition
<math>Pe = \frac{(Diffusion \, timescale)}{(Convection \, timescale)}</math>
In diffusion dominated regimes, the Peclet number is less than zero1. Such is the case with microfluidic systems, where turbulence is low. In convection dominated systems, this number is greater than one.
