Biobricks ran out of money, wiki shut down, account suspended due to outstanding balances

2017 September

In September 2017, OpenWetWare was migrated to a new server. The old server was marked read-only (no edits allowed) on Friday, September 22, 2017 and the new server was made public on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

User Migration

On September 23, 2017 all users were logged out and their passwords expired. In order to continue using OpenWetWare, you must:

1. Log into your account using your old password
   • If you forgot your old password, use the password reset button
   • Check your spam folder! If you find the confirmation email there, please mark it as "not spam".
   • If your old email doesn't work anymore, contact us
   • If your account was never used (no edits or uploads) and more than 3 years old (created before September 1, 2014), it was deleted and you'll need to make a new one

3. Confirm your email address
   • On your preferences page, go to User profile -> Email options -> Email Confirmation
   • Check your spam folder! If you find the confirmation email there, please mark it as "not spam".

Disabled Features

The following features are no longer supported:

• de-wikified pages: these subdomains now redirect to their source pages
• private wikis: ask us for a database dump if you need it
• raw HTML: this is a huge security problem and we will not re-enable it. Most HTML was used for formatting only, and can be replaced by wiki markup. If you need HTML for something special, you can ask an admin to create a template for you.
• Many old plugins and parser hooks - if you find anything broken and want it fixed, please let us know!
