Future funding possibilities

It looks as though most funding agencies need a cover letter (1-2 pages) before the full application is sent. Also, many require being a 501(c)(3) organization. We can possibly go through MIT, but it may be better to start that registration.

Google grants

Google allows applications for free AdSense advertising to recognized 501(c)(3) organization From Google:

The Google Grants program supports organizations sharing our philosophy of community service
to help the world in areas such as science and technology, education, global public health,
the environment, youth advocacy, and the arts.

Sun Microsystems Foundation

Perhaps we can get an inside track here with people we know at Sun? There are no real avenues for general applications

IBM

Once again, not really supportive of outside grants. But doesn't hurt to send in an application.

MacArthur Foundation

They have a new Intellectual Property and the Public Domain Program that we might fit into.

Hewlett Foundation

They fund OCW. Not much of a research focus, but worth a try.
