McClean:Gentamicin

Overview

Protocol for making 20mL of 50mg/mL Gentamicin stock solution

Materials

  1. sterile De-Ionized Water
  2. gentamicin
  3. 0.22um syringe filter
  4. 30ml syringe
  5. sterile 1.5ml eppie tubes

Procedure

  • Fill a 50mL centrifuge tube with 20mL of sterile, DI water.
  • Weigh out 1g gentamicin. Insert this into the tube.
  • Vortex the tube vigorously until it is well-mixed.
  • Filter sterilize the solution by pushing through a 0.22um syringe filter.
  • Aliquot 1ml of the solution into each 1.5mL eppendorf tube. Label each tube. Store them in a labelled freezer box in the -80C freezer in 3005.
