우리는 seawater에서 움직이는 Janus micro motor에 대해 설명하고자한다. Mg particle을 연료로 하여 Mg particle에 Ti, Au를 증착시킨다. 이것은 magnesium이 Seawater 속에서 Chloride와 함께 효율적이고 장기적인 반응이 이루어지게 하여 안정적인 motor역할을 할 수 있게 한다. 우리는 이러한 모터에 생체분자인 DNA를 이용하여 particle 사이의 연결이 이뤄지게 하는 rod로서의 가능성을 연구하였다. 이 rod를 통하여 여러 개의 particle을 연결할 수 있으며, 반대 방향으로 움직이는 두 개의 particle을 rod로 연결하면 원운동을 이루어지게 할 수 있다.

We describe Janus micro motor moving in seawater. The motors consist of magnesium particles deposited by Titanium and Gold. This enables Magnesium to react efficiently in chloride-rich enviroments(seawater) in a long term manner and be a stable motor. We search for ‘DNA rod’ to connect between micromotors. This rod can connect several particles. If two particles moving opposite direction are connected by rod, this can display a circular movement.

We describe Janus micro motor moving in seawater. The motor consists of magnesium particles deposited with Titanium and Gold. This enables Magnesium to react efficiently in chloride-rich environments(seawater) in a long term manner and be a stable motor. This research is about the potential of the motor as a “DNA rod” by introducing DNA that can make connections between particles. With these rods, particles can be linked and circular motion can be displayed between two particles that move in opposite directions.

We demonstrate Janus micro motor in fluid. The motor consists of magnesium (Mg) particles partially deposited gold (Au) on the outmost surface. The Janus particle exhibits a directional motion due to the exposed Mg region which generates hydrogen gas in chloride-rich solutions (e.g. seawater) in a long term manner. We manipulate such particles in a way that two or more particles are connected each other using DNA structures. Through motile observation of the aggregated particles, we identify the force and directional motion of multi-particle ensembles.
