We utilise Twitter as a means of maintaining day to day communication and passing on notices. The Twitter account isisbio_general is logged onto from a series of clients on computers in the lab. The password is the building name followed by the room phone number. If you are logged onto this account you can send a short message.
To receive messages, follow the following steps.
- Get yourself a twitter account if you don't already have one (got to [twitter.com] and register there
- In account settings (top right) choose the device tab and then add your mobile number. Turn device updating on. There is no need to give your mobile number to anyone else
- Go back to the main screen and search for isisbio_general to find the lab account
- Choose to 'follow' that account and once you have done that, set device updates to 'on'
Now when someone sends an update from this account, everyone will receive a text message. If you reply to the text message then this will appear as a reply to the lab account which will come up on the desktop clients.
