Bac-to-Insulin: Current Methods


Current methods of insulin administration




Syringe / Prefilled insulin pens

  • Continuous administration required
  • Manual calculation of dosage
  • Need to carry vials and needles






Insulin pumps

  • Needs battery for operation
  • Need to manually adjust level when exercising
  • Soft needle inserted under skin – replace every 2 days






Inhalers

  • Currently under testing – No FDA approval
  • Still need to manually adjust dosage

  • Does not need frequent replacing
