Lab Summary: Poisson Distribution

This lab used a PMT (Photomultiplier Tube)and Multichannel Analyser to perform counts on NaI, and adjust the time bins rather than amplitude settings to get frequency. Its main purpose was to show how the Poisson distribution approaches a normal curve and that the square of the mean approaches the standard deviation, and thus normalizing it as the counts per time increase. Just looking at the 800 millisecond range which the largest time width, it was intuitively somewhat obvious about a bell shape as the center numbers peak and decrease to the right and left of the center numbers.
