Description
- set-up the same as 9/21/18:
- Used syringe to join peek tubing
- Determine the rate of the glutaraldehyde needed to have a 2:1 ratio with PVA
- Determine the length of Tygon tubing at which glutaraldehyde and PVA mix for at least 5 minutes
Data
- New rates:
- Red pump: 0.01 mL/min
- Grey pump: 0.02 mL/min
- Recalculated Length:
- V= pi*r^2*l
- 0.01 mL/min * 5 min) = 3.14 * 0.00158 cm^2 * l
- 0.05 mL / (3.14 * 0.00158) = l
- l = 10.078 cm
Notes
- Previous calculation was off by a factor 10 so we increased the length to 101 cm instead for this second trial.
- Epoxy used to connect PEEK tubing and Tygon to prevent leaking.
- Polymer beads formed in ethyl acetate
