  • Built three types of cells that express fluorescent protein when presented with a certain concentration of autoinducer (high, medium, low)
  • Mixture of cells can produce a bullseye when a sender cell is place in the middle
  • Bi-directional communication might be an interesting topic to investigate
  • Use same mechanism, but make cells express different protein such as adhesin (cells only stick together when they detect autoinducer)

  • Paper discusses purposely mutating pathways to optimize genetic circuits
  • Fluorescent screening used to discover which mutations made the nonfunctional gate work as intended
  • Good method, but no apparent future work
