Remains of the Day

  • Starting the strawberry rhizosphere trial today. Took out frozen santa maria soil, placed around diversly subsampled 2 grams in aluminium dishes and thawing/drying it at 30 degrees C for 4 hours, then crushing clods with metal spatula and weighing it out (250 mg) and extracting DNA in the afternoon (that is unless it needs more drying). The sampling was done with ethanol cleaned and flamed metal spatula. Jon weighed out the samples (ethanol washing spatula in between?) and I extracted them right away using 100 ul of elution buffer for the last step.
