Fellowships

INCBN IGERT   Put in the dates. Koch's lab.
Emcore   2009. Starting Koch's lab.
CORE IGERT   Put in the dates. Jim's lab.

Grants

SRAC   $500 2007. This was a small grant from UNM used to purchase electrical components.
GRD   $3,000 2008. This was a small grant from UNM used to purchase components for an optical tweezers.
Addgene Resource Sharing Award   $5,000. 2010. This was a small grant from Addgene. This grant is for our efforts in Steve Koch's lab regarding resource sharing and open science.

Technical skills

Optics   I have worked on several projects that have required the use of optics. From standard microscopy using a commercial unit to designing and building a custom microscope that has the capability of observing fluorescence and capturing Schlieren images of an ultrasonic field. I have also designed and implemented an two optical tweezing system using a diode laser and a Nd-Yag laser.
Electronics   I have experience with both analog and digital circuitry. Some projects I have worked on required the design and implementation of circuits to either gate, delay, or amplify signals.
Machining   I have machined tools, optical holders, and many adapters that function to standardize non standard parts. I have experience using both lathes and milling machines.
Lasers & Lighting   I have used high power lasers and low powered ones for many different projects. I am familiar with using high powered LEDs and the proper way to drive and cool them with either fans or thermoelectric cooling. I have also designed and built a spectrometer that used a high power mercury lamp source.
Chemistry   I am familiar with basic chemistry in regards to protein shelf life elongation, protein adhesion, antifade systems, ion exchange chromatography, and liposome preparation.
Design   Each experiment and even all products require some level of design. I have printed my own circuit boards, created many optical designs using Google Sketchup, and I have experience making animations.
