Start of AL3 Starting materials: 4-chlorobenzenonitrile (CBN) and 4-nitrobenzenethiol (NBT) AL3 was started. The septum blew off after it had been reacting, so the flask was not properly evacuated. This could have an impact on the reaction. Calculations shown below: 250mg CBN * (1g/1000mg) * (1mol/137.57g) = 0.00182mol CBN 0.00182mol NBT * (155.18g/1mol) * (1000mg/1g) = 282mg NBT Additionally, MS was used to take a first look at AL2, and it was determined that the target compound was in fact present. Büchi separator will need to be used as the next step in purification.
