McClean: Glucose Solution

Overview

Use this protocol to make 20% or 40% glucose for adding to media recipes.

Materials

  1. Dextrose
  2. Mili-Q Water

Procedure

To make 20% (10x concentration of what yeast normally need) glucose

  • Weight out 20g of glucose (dextrose)
  • Add to 70ml of H2O
  • Dissolve by stirring. May use some heat.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the volume of the mix up to 100ml total.
  • Autoclave.


To make 40% (20x concentration of what yeast normally need) glucose

  • Weight out 40g of glucose (dextrose)
  • Add to 70ml of H2O
  • Dissolve by stirring. May use some heat.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the volume of the mix up to 100ml total.
  • Autoclave.
