McClean: Glucose Solution

Overview
Use this protocol to make 20% or 40% glucose for adding to media recipes.
Materials
- Dextrose
- Mili-Q Water
Procedure
To make 20% (10x concentration of what yeast normally need) glucose
- Weight out 20g of glucose (dextrose)
- Add to 70ml of H2O
- Dissolve by stirring. May use some heat.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the volume of the mix up to 100ml total.
- Autoclave.
To make 40% (20x concentration of what yeast normally need) glucose
- Weight out 40g of glucose (dextrose)
- Add to 70ml of H2O
- Dissolve by stirring. May use some heat.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the volume of the mix up to 100ml total.
- Autoclave.
