Stem Cells As a Research Tool

  • One potential use of stem cells is stem cells as a research tool. This has many benefits, but most importantly will drastically improve the screening process of new drugs for side effects and reduce the costs, time, and ethical concerns of animal testing. Stem cells have the ability to model human disease and possibly address infertility.

Cell Based Therapy

  • Stem cell therapy is the ability to use stem cells to treat or prevent a disease or condition. This is known as regenerative medicine. They are used in organ treatment/transplant as a renewable source of replacement cells for the liver and blood cells. Stem cells have previously aided in bone marrow transplants and for the prevention of birth defects.
