# Polymer-Clay Films | |||
## Add 7mL of water to 1g of 22,000MW polyvinyl alcohol and 0.11g of sodium montmorillonite in a glass vial | |||
## Stir the solution with constant heating at 75C until the polymer is dissolved and the clay is dispersed (~15 minutes) | |||
## Cool the solution to room temperature | |||
## Add 0.5mL 0.8 wt% glutaraldehyde and 0.5mL 1N HCl to the polymer clay solution. | |||
### NOTE: Perform step 4 in the hood | |||
## Stir for an additional 3 minutes to ensure homogeneity | |||
## Pour solution into a teflon dish to dry until the next class | |||
