Procedures

Make 10% Exchanged Clay Films

  • From our exchanged clay
    1. Add 7mL of water to ___g of 22,000MW polyvinyl alcohol and ___g of exchanged NaMT in a glass vial
    2. Stir the solution with constant heating at 75C until the polymer is dissolved and the clay is dispersed (~15 minutes)
    3. Cool the solution to room temperature
    4. Add 0.5mL 0.8 wt% glutaraldehyde.
    5. Stir for an additional 3 minutes to ensure homogeneity
    6. Pour solution into a teflon dish to dry until the next class
  • From ____'s group exchanged clay
