I found this equipment category list on ebay. I'm comparing it to what's being used today on OWW and what has been created or suggested in the DIY bio section.
To clarify, the intention is to provide a set of equipment categories for all of OWW that be used the same way that protocol and material categories are used today. I'm not suggesting this be taken in by the DIY bio folks as their taxonomy: I'm deriving it to reflect what's being discussed since the DIY bio area of OWW is discussing equipment to a much greater degree than any other part of the site.
