How did this site get started? The site was started by a graduate students in the Endy lab at MIT, in collaboration with the folks at the Molecular Sciences Institute. The site went live in October of 2006. Why would I want to join?Check out the Why join page for a list of reasons why this site may be of use to you. Are you people just a bunch of scientific hippies? Why are you doing this?Maybe. It just seems to us that instead of each group going off on their own, and building their own models from scratch, we would be building better models if we a) did a better job of documenting our models (and sharing this documentation), and b) worked together a bit on some of the basic assumptions on which our models are based. Is this site backed-up? / How can I be assured this site will be here tomorrow? This site is backed up daily, and we are continuing to improve the redundancy and backup capabilities. Who runs this site?Ty Thomson is responsible for the overall direction of the site. Technical support is by Ilya Sytchev. We would love other people to become interested enough to help guide and manage the site (intellectually and technically). Can I/we join?Yes!!! The more people that are contributing, the more useful the site becomes. Please check out the How to join page. |
