Biomineralization of gold nanoparticles.


  1. Combine HAuCl4 and BSA to final concentrations of 0.75mM and 15μM, respectively, in 7mL of distilled water.
  2. Place in an oven at 80°C. Remove every half hour for ten minutes, and then place back into the oven.
  3. Repeat for about three hours, and store at room temperature, wrapped in aluminum foil.


  • This resulted in a gold-colored solution with a clump of black fibers.
