Objective

  • SEM
  • Create new beads with montmorillonite in PVA

Description

  • To help with the issue of clogging:
    • Olive oil used as a carrier fluid

Data

  • Rate:
    • Olive Oil: 2 mL/min, gray pump, 60 mL syringe
    • PVA and gluteraldehyde: 0.05 mL/min, red pump, 30 mL syringe
  • Set-Up:

Notes

  • PVA and glutaraldehyde are mixed in y-junction where the olive oil will pinch off the composite mixture into beads.
  • glutaraldehyde filled in 3 mL syringe with 0.5 mL of 8% glutaraldehyde and then 2.5 mL filled with DI water.
  • 10% PVA in 10% HCl
    • 5.8 g PVA [Mw 31-50,000 kDa] in 5.8 g DI H2O
