Objective

Make more PVA/clay beads, analyze UV-Vis Na montmorillonite dye uptake.

Lab Protocol

  • Made some more MG PVA/clay uptake for UV-Vis analysis for statistical purposes.
  • Try to make more PVA/clay metal uptake if there is enough beads.

Data

PVA/clay MG uptake

  • sample 1: bead mass 0.10077 g, concentration 0.5 ppm, mass MG 5.02135 g
  • sample 2: bead mass 0.10079 g, concentration 1 ppm, mass MG 5.00222 g
  • sample 3: bead mass 0.10003 g, concentration 1.53 ppm, mass MG 5.01170 g
  • sample 4: bead mass 0.10004 g, concentration 3 ppm, mass MG 5.01349 g
  • sample 5: bead mass 0.10008 g, concentration 8.88 ppm, mass MG 5.01229 g
  • sample 6: bead mass 0.10005 g, concentration 15.3 ppm, mass MG 5.00503 g
  • sample 7: bead mass 0.10017 g, concentration 25.3 ppm, mass MG 5.00602 g

PVA/clay Pb uptake

  • sample 1: bead mass 0.10030 g, concentration 0.49 ppm, mass MG 4.91918 g
  • sample 2: bead mass 0.10002 g, concentration 1.11 ppm, mass MG 4.77509 g
  • sample 3: bead mass 0.10003 g, concentration 2.62 ppm, mass MG 4.91107 g

Notes

  • PVA beads and PVA/clay beads do not have the glass transition state on the DSC.
