Objective

  • Make PVA beads and set up dye uptake for Malachite Green.

Lab Protocol

Malachite Green Uptake

  • 100 mg of beads
  • 5 g MG (concentrations of 0.5, 1.00, 1.53, 3, 8.88, 15.3, and 25.3 ppm)
  • incubate for one week
  • UV-Vis to analyze change in concentration of MG solution

  • PVA/clay beads were potentially too cross-linked, no real glass transition was able to be seen.
