Objective

To use new set up with four way mixing junction to allow ethyl acetate to flow past PVA to pull off droplets.

Lab Protocol

  • ethyl acetate rate is 0.025 (needs to be 3x faster than PVA)
  • PVA rate is 0.05
    • This is based on the fact that the 30 mL syringe (for ethyl acetate) area is 5.86 larger than 3 mL syringe.

  • Image of new setup.
  • After testing in hopes of creating smaller beads we increased both rates to 0.3 mL/min and 0.04 mL/min for ethyl acetate and PVA respectively.
