  • Prepare samples for Fourier Transform Infared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
  • Prepare more AuNP samples for further experimentation.


  • Prep samples for FTIR:

1. 1 mL of each sample

a. 70 ratio + dye

b. 166 ratio + dye

c. BSA/HCl + dye

2. Place samples in glass test tube and put into dryer to facilitate evaporation overnight

  • Perform Gold AuNP synthesis for 70 and 166 Au/BSA ratio solutions.


FTIR shines a beam of many different frequencies of light at a sample at one time, and measures how much of that beam is absorbed by the sample. The beam is then modified to have different combinations of frequencies providing the second data point. This same process is performed many times. A computer takes all of the data to infer what the absorption was at each wavelength.
