Objective
To make one solution of AuNP/BSA and synthesize protein fibers.
Description
- Make 2 solutions of AuNP:
- Solution 1 (Au/BSA mole ratio = 70)
- Combine 1 mL of 3.66 mM HAuCl4 and 3.02 mL of 0.0173 mM BSA in a test tube.
- Dilute to 10 mL with water.
- Place in oven at 80°C.
- Solution 2 (Au/BSA mole ratio = 166)
- Combine 1 mL of 3.66 mM HAuCl4 and 1.27 mL of 0.0173 mM BSA in a test tube.
- Dilute to 10 mL with water.
- Place in oven at 80°C.
- Leave solutions in oven for 2.5 hr.
Data
- Results: Solution 1 turned purple, while solution 2 was clear with long purple protein fibers.
