Objectives

  1. Continue gathering test results from the 30% Bentonite beads
  2. Start analyzing test results from the 30% Bentonite beads
  3. Run DSC on samples
  4. Synthesize 40% Bentonite beads
  5. Prepare plastic column

Procedure

  1. Testing the 30% Bentonite beads
    • The 30% Bentonite beads were tested using the same method as that from before.
  2. Analyzing test results of the 30% Bentonite beads
    • These beads were analyzed using the same procedure as the 10% bentonite beads, from the 28th.
  3. DSC Testing:
    • DSC was taken of 4 films: 0.5mL of glutaraldehyde and PVA, 1.0mL of glutaraldehyde and PVA, 0.5mL of glutaraldehyde and PVA with clay solution, and 0.5mL of glutaraldehyde and PVA with clay solid.
  4. Synthesis of 40% Bentonite beads
    • The synthesis of 40% bentonite beads was prepared using the same procedure from the 21st with the only difference being the use of ml of 3% wt bentonite solution and ml of water.
  5. Preparation of the plastic column
    • Preparation of the plastic column was carried out using the same procedure that was used on the 16th.

Observations

  1. 30% Bentonite beads from solution:
    • Another 8 MG rinses were performed, bringing the total to 16 MG rinses
  2. The 30% Bentonite beads are still absorbing all of the MG stock solution, further necessitating more MG rinses.
