I am a second year PhD student from the University of Edinburgh. I am visiting Pam’s lab for 6 months to learn more about yeast physiology, molecular genetics techniques and the “art” of making biobricks. My undergrad degree is in mechanical engineering and management from the University of Edinburgh and I became involved in synthetic biology through the iGEM competition in 2006.

My research interests involve building a glucose sensor in yeast by designing a new set of transcriptional interactions. I worked on the arsenic biosensor entry in the 2006 iGEM competition by the University of Edinburgh and played the role of advisor for the 2007 team. Outside of the lab I like to lift weights, watch movies and just chill out.
